Michael Leventhal
Author, publisher & freelance writer
Books that I’ve written, edited or introduced.
As well as publishing books written by other people, I’ve written a few of my own!
Book publishing
I’ve worked in publishing since 2001 when I joined my father Lionel Leventhal at Greenhill Books and Chatham Publishing.
The imprints have a rich backlist of almost 1,000 military and maritime titles. Many of these books are still in print, in English and many other languages.
In addition to publishing books, I regularly write newspaper and magazine feature articles. I’ve worked at The Times, The Daily Telegraph Saturday Magazine and the Daily Express.
Most recently, I was the editor of Jewish Quarterly journal (maternity cover).
In 2009 I founded the Jewish food charity Gefiltefest. I’m extremely proud of the annual Gefiltefest festival that was held at the Moishe House, the London Jewish Cultural Centre and at the JW3 centre. Together with an army of incredible volunteers and trustees, the event attracted speakers and visitors from Europe, Israel and America.
As well as the charity’s patron Claudia Roden, the festival was proud to host Joan Nathan, Poopa Dweck, Gil Hovav and many other knowledgeable cooks, chefs and writers.
